WASHINGTON -- Today, Senator Bernie Sanders announced his presidential platform on housing. In response, Jennifer Epps-Addison, Network President and Co-Executive Director of CPD Action, released the following statement:
“Senator Sanders made history as the first presidential candidate to commit to federal rent control. We are increasingly becoming a renter nation, with the number rising of people who rent their homes. Senator Sanders’ platform builds on the impressive grassroots victories in Oregon, New York and, most recently, California, who in the past year have brought tenant protections like rent control to the state-level and took on the corporate landlords and real estate developers who are profiting off of our housing crisis. I commend Senator Sanders for committing to a housing plan that builds upon the vision of tenant leaders and activists with the solutions that they need to end the affordable housing crisis.”
