CPD Action Endorses Chris Bubser, Jamaal Bowman, Nydia Velázquez in Key Races in California and New York

WASHINGTON, DC -- Center for Popular Democracy Action (CPD Action), a national network of more than 50 community organizing groups across the country, announced the endorsement of three progressive candidates in high-profile congressional races in California and New York: Chris Bubser for US House of Representatives from California (CA-8); Jamaal Bowman for US House of Representatives from New York (NY-16); Nydia Velázquez for US House of Representatives from California (CA-8)

These early endorsements are set to send a jolt into the already significant grassroots effort behind their candidacy. In a crowded race, Chris Bubser comes out of grassroots movements in California and is poised to help build momentum to continue the efforts at flipping a congressional seat from red to blue. In New York City, Jamaal Bowman is campaigning on ending privatization at every level and funding our communities so they can thrive. He has been endorsed by Make the Road Action, NYCC, Justice Democrats, and People’s Action. As the first Puerto Rican woman to serve in Congress, Nydia Velázquez has been a longtime progressive champion who also has support from local grassroots groups.

“We are in an important moment in our democracy. We care as much about the person who sits at the highest office in this country as we do about those in Congress who will work day-in and day-out to secure better lives for our communities,” said Jennifer Epps-Addison, Co-Executive Director and Network President of CPD Action. “The three candidates we’ve endorsed today stand out - not only because they have proven that they are champions of working families - but because they are pushing to expand a truly popular democracy in their states and beyond. They are working to advance a pro-worker, pro-immigrant, racial justice agenda and our network is ready to rally behind them as they fight to build a country that works for all of us!”

The network has made several other down-ballot endorsements in Texas, West Virgina, Georgia, and Illinois and thrown its weight behind Bernie Sanders in the primary.
